Blue Brown Stoneware Ceramic Lamp Base

by Isabella Lepri Ceramics

These bottle-lamps develop organically on the wheel. No two are exactly the same.

This is a handmade, wheel thrown stoneware lamp base. The floating blue glaze has green and copper tones.

The fitting in this lamp takes a bayonet light bulb but you can request an SES (small Edison screw) fitting.

Each lamp is professionally tested and comes with a Portable Appliance Certificate.

Each piece is made individually by me, in my London studio. Each is hand-thrown. As my products are completely handmade, no two pieces are identical. There will be variations in colour and shape.

My pieces are inspired by my surroundings: sometimes by natural forms and sometimes by everyday objects. These bottle-lamps develop organically on the wheel. No two are exactly the same.

I trained in Anthropology at the London School of Economics and for my PhD I spent 18 months researching village life in the Bolivian Amazon. I have always enjoyed making things and when I encountered ceramics in 2007 it was love at first touch. I took classes with Matt Sherratt at London's City Lit, with North London potter Ricky Grimes and Linda Bloomfield at Morley College. I set up my home studio in 2013. I live and work in North London, with my husband, 3 children and a cat.

My work is inspired by the tradition of British Studio Pottery. In my choice of forms and textures I strive for simplicity and spontaneity and allow the work to develop organically.

Each piece is hand thrown and glazed with traditional, lead-free glazes; each is unique and functional.
