A graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee, Roisin specialises in jewellery and metal design.
She prides herself on using traditional techniques and hand makes each piece at her studio in the heart of Edinburgh, using only the highest quality hallmarked sterling silver and 18ct gold vermeil.
Her fresh approach to contemporary jewellery is inspired by images of her local surroundings and she uses a refined photo etching technique to pay homage to traditional dark room photography. In this way she translates her own narrative photos into feminine, wearable and tactile accessories that last a lifetime.
'My earlier collections were inspired by the area where I grew up in Scotland, as well as by my Irish family. Now I’m more spontaneous. I think ‘I like that!’ so I whip it up in metal, it either works or it doesn’t and it might go on the scrap heap.
My recent collection is probably my favourite – very simple with a touch of colour. I don’t wear lots of jewellery myself so I wanted to create a collection that’s effortless, easy to wear and just works.
It’s a really satisfying thing telling someone you’re a jeweller. I think people forget how some things are made; they assume they just appear!'
